I know every fanbase is guilty of wanting to get rid of their spare parts/bad contracts/scapegoats. But this whole Raymond, Ballard and a pick thing is getting downright comical |

I can see the Ballard for Bailey trade if Visnovsky is successful blocking his trade. NYI would be a better team and Bailey would have a great opportunity in Vancouver. |

To Philadelphia:Keith Ballard, Mason Raymond, 2nd in 2013
For
To Vancouver:Danny Briere
Reason:
Philly gets 2 serviceable players and another pick to add to the prospect pool that is growing for them. With Mezjaros out, they need to add a legitimate NHL D-man. Raymond is a bubble top 6 guy who can play those minutes if needed.
Briere can fill Kesler's spot until he comes back, and when he does, put Kes on the wing so he doesn’t have to work as hard to make a contribution and stay healthy. We all know Briere is known for the clutch playoff goal.
My Thoughts- I don’t mind it. Philly gets help on D and Vancouver gets a playoffs scorer. I do wonder a little as to why Philly takes the “Ballard, Raymond and a 2nd offer” that no one else will that, but the deal is a decent starting point for Briere.
I wouldn't give you Simmonds for that deal let a lone Danny Briere.
Try Tanev, Raymond and a 1st |

You know what is even funnier. Because of the bad rep both players have the have 0 value trade wise .
Ballard would be a top 4 on the Habs. I looked at your line up and you are paying Kaberle 4 mil .
You should think twice before blurting poop.
How many of the Habs top 9 forwards contracts are 2.2 mil and have scored 25 goals . Do some research before you open up and say the trendy thing. |

I guess we are getting Ellis. |

I would give you Raymond Tanev and a 1st for Simmonds.
There is no room for Raymond on our roster. He would be fine on other rosters but ours is too deep. |

I also wonder why the Sharks would want Luongo? Sure he is maybe a touch better than Niemi but does he really make the Sharks better? I’m not sure. - IanEsplen
Luongo is way, way better than Niemi. SJ is screwed if they are depending on him again. They were a fringe playoff team this last season. Goaltending is their weakest position.
No saying I like that trade, but if SJ is serious about competing anytime soon, they need a new goalie. |

Well god damn
If I'm Homer and Gillis calls me with that, I trade Simmonds in a heartbeat. |

Canucks should really try hard to OS or trade for a player like Kane Benn or trade for Clowe Backes I would feel a whole lot better with a power forward on the second line . It would change the whole outlook of the Canucks. |

The thing about Raymond is he had a rough year. He is a decent player and cheap but there is no room for him on the Canucks. We have Daniel Sedin Booth and Higgins on the roster now and soon to have Jensen .We need a power forward top 9 . So Raymond is wasting space on the Canucks. Tanev is reliable RHD but unproven .He has a good first pass and smart positioning but small. Simmond can score 20 goals and be a handful to deal with .Canucks need that type of player. I didn't see how long he is under contract so that may be a condition.
Edit :One year left . Remove the 1st . Tanev and Raymond for Simmonds |

Someone's a little pissy this morning. Did I run down either player? Did I make comparisons between rosters? I pointed out that just about every proposal coming from the Vancouver fanbase that doesn't involve Luongo just about always involves a combination of Raymond. Ballard, and a pick. Tell me I'm wrong.
And I'm fully aware of the bad contracts on Montreal, Id be happy to trade you Gomez, Kaberle and a pick for Jenson (See what I did there?) |
